My Story

In 1995, I found myself at the proverbial crossroads frequently referred to as one’s mid-life crisis. At 42 years young I had experienced both successes and failures in my numerous sales positions, but I was certain that there was more to the concept of a fulfilling sales “career” than I was expecting. To complicate my thinking, in spite of the fact that I considered myself reasonably successful overall, I was making little progress in regards to accumulating adequate wealth for the financial independence I had always imagined my wife and I would share and enjoy in our golden years. That in and of itself was a very scary prospect, but that fear was significantly compounded by the birth of our first child, in 1985. God determined that my wife and I qualified as special parents and blessed us accordingly by giving us one of his special children, a beautiful baby boy destined to mature into a man while forever having the mind of a child.

Suddenly we found ourselves in the position of not only needing to prepare for our own financial future, but more importantly, for our son’s personal and financial future. By the time my son was ten years old I was beginning to experience an utter sense of futility in regards to my efforts to provide for my son’s financial future, let alone the financial future of my bride and I. That brings me back to 1995, the year I was introduced to a sales career with UGA, the year my life forever changed for the better. Today I find myself in the incredible position of knowing that my wife and I are going to be able to enjoy the type of retirement we had always imagined. Far more important, as a parent, my greatest dream has become a reality; I have been able to ensure our son’s financial security for the rest of his life. I am forever grateful for that fateful day in 1995, when I made the career choice to join UGA, the greatest sales team in America.

God bless UGA and the dreams it has rekindled in my life.
